Could Paul Have Resisted Jesus on the Road to Damascus? (video)

An illustration of Paul's encounter with Jesus on the Road to Damascus with a caption reading "Could Paul Have Resisted Jesus on the Road to Damascus?" Paul is on his knees with upheld arms, as a bright light shines brightly from above and winds blow aggressively.

This video takes a verse-by-verse look at Paul’s conversion on the road to Damascus (Acts 9) and shows why this passage does not support the Calvinist doctrine of irresistible grace, a key pillar of TULIP theology. Calvinists frequently appeal to Paul’s dramatic encounter with Jesus to argue that God’s saving call cannot be resisted, yet Paul’s own testimony in Acts 26:19 shows disobedience was possible. By examining Paul’s motives, his ignorance rather than hostility toward God (1 Tim. 1:13), and his lifelong zeal to serve God (Phil. 3:4–6), this video shows that Paul was not coerced by an irresistible force but willingly responded once he realized Jesus truly was on God’s side.
