All that the Father Gives Me – John 6:37-44 (video)
This video takes a close, in-context look at John 6:37-44, a passage Calvinists frequently use to defend irresistible grace, unconditional election, and perseverance of the saints. This video shows why these claims do not hold up when the broader context of John’s Gospel is considered, especially in light of John 17, the concept of the righteous remnant within Israel, and Old Covenant vs. New Covenant theology. Rather than teaching Calvinist soteriology, this video shows that Jesus is addressing faithful Jews who already belonged to the Father and were being transferred from the Old Covenant to the New Covenant. It has nothing to do with God irresistibly regenerated unbelievers. This video also examines what it truly means for the Father to “draw” people to Christ, showing from Scripture that God’s grace can be resisted and that Jesus draws all people, not a preselected elect.
